Radio In A 360 World: Internet Applications That Work!
James Conner
Vice President General Manager
WTHI/WWVR
Deb Esayian, Co-President of Emmis Interactive led a very informative and factual session on proven internet applications that work for clients with radio station websites. Ms. Esayian began by informing those in attendance where radio websites started with banners and tiles and their relative ineffectiveness and pointed us to today’s fast-paced listeners and what type of rich media content they are searching for from websites.
Esayian spoke on client expectations and the importance of making sure you know exactly what the client expects their campaign to do and if they are realistic. Radio station websites need to be easy to navigate, an extension of your brand and provide the visitor with rich media content that will keep them coming back.
Esayian introduced one of her clients Tiffany Brown, from the Gator in Jacksonville, Florida and she walked attendees through a few successful campaigns from her radio station’s website. Brown admitted she was relatively new to radio with just more than a year’s experience but has found that creating client opportunities on their website to be very rewarding for the client, listeners and herself. Brown’s presentation of successful internet programs echoed Esayian’s point on using rich interactive media instead of unresponsive tiles and banners.
Radio in a 360 World gave everyone in attendance a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t and how you can make your sites more engaging and hopefully profitable. Esayian and Brown fielded several questions at the conclusion of the session and distributed a success story booklet for those in attendance.
