Panelists were Jennie Smythe, Joel Burke, John Zarling and Rob Tiisler from Tampa Digital.

New Media and all it encompasses has become an important part of CRS in that its evolution has picked up speed and is continuing to do so, and it’s become a central component of the business strategies in both the radio and record industries.

In keeping with the 40th anniversary of CRS, our panel offered attendees 40 ideas, ideal for anyone looking to develop or improve their new media strategy. During a fast moving 50 minute discussion, panelists and attendees discussed issues as varied as social networking, user-generated content, video-blogging, and how emerging technologies, and rapidly evolving internet memes can keep radio stations, and artists, relevant to consumers who are increasingly sophisticated in their use and adoption of new technologies..

In today’s very challenging business environment, it has become clear that Country Radio is no longer "just" the product on the airwaves. A successful station has to integrate seamlessly into the psyche of the listener to become the first-stop source not only for country music, but for entertainment information and events of local interest. This panel was a great jumping off point for programmers and marketing professionals who are prepared or are preparing to embrace the new business paradigm.
